Composition of Flue Gases during Oxy-Combustion of Energy Crops in a Circulating Fluidized Bed

In recent years, global warming and climate change associated with emissions of CO2 from fossil fuel-fired power systems are a big worry for authorities in many countries worldwide. The utilization biomass as an alternative, carbon-neutral fuel can reduce other greenhouse gases. Furthermore, the coupling oxy-combustion capture is option carbon-negative generation technology. this study, NOx, SO2, CO air- three energy crops (Miscanthus giganteus, Sida hermaphrodita, Salix viminalis) presented compared fuels reference coal. Combustion tests air O2/CO2 mixtures were conducted 12-kW bench-scale CFB combustor at 850 °C. Measurements flue gas compositions taken using FTIR spectrometer. all tested atmospheres, N2O, lower than those oxidation volatile nitrogen compounds was behind high NOx burned mixtures. lowest concentrations NO found 21% O2/70% mixture. containing more oxygen (30% 40% O2) led to decrease N2O increase SO2.
